A Case Study Medication Counseling by Pharmacist's U-Visit

    Abstract

    The Korean society is getting aged with more and more elderly people, so that the necessity of visiting pharmacist policy and social welfare system is now significantly emphasized. The elderly needs pharmacists' professional administration management due to their characteristics of their multiple medication, and complex diseases. In Korea, U-Visit Pharmacist can use IT technology to provide pharmacist's professional pharmacy service anywhere and manage health regardless of place. In this study, U-visit pharmacist conducted medication instruction and provided necessary education on the field to the elderly nursing home residents using smart phone or tablet PC. This paper is aiming to improve the national health and the quality of healthcare service by introducing U-pharmacist visiting system and standardization of patient counseling in order to enhance medication compliance and quality of life of the elderly. It can also contribute to health insurance financial savings.
